Omen, Strike Master and Comando Nuclear

Unforgettable day for headbangers of the interior of São Paulo State, they were about to greet and check closely one of the American’s Heavy Metal icon, the Omen band (that in the past was known as an American reply to the British band Iron Maiden), and also they would see Strike Master band, that was at a nearby bar with some fans but is still unknown by the local people, and the already acclaimed band by metalheads of São Paulo, Comando Nuclear.
The house opened soon past 22:00, Kenny Powell (Omen’s guitar player) was walking around as an incognito, just like nobody knew who he is.
It was past 23:30 when Comando Nuclear began their concert. Despise the fact they got lost in Campinas city, they made a short yet kick-ass set, opening with “Unidos Pelo Metal”, followed by “Princesa Infernal”, amongst other songs, and closing nicely with “Resistir”, perfect warm-up for the Mexicans of Strike Master.
Strike Master took its place and the Mexican power-trio simply “struck” and drove the crowd insane, many risked themselves by stage-diving, which seemed to give energy to the band. The show got more intense, KMU (V/G) along with Ricardo (B) didn’t stop for a second on the stage, it seemed Chavez (D) wanted to leave the drums behind and jump over the crowd. The band’s excitement seemed to join the audience, the concert got better by each song, a high quality 80’s thrash metal style. It’s just a pity that in the end the band had some trouble with the audio equalization, but by their attitude, their will, their power, it was a memorable gig.
Omen, a band we could never imagine to see playing here on a whole-country tour, even with just one former member, Kenny Powell (G), made a great job and all the other members did deserved to be on stage with him – Scott Clute (B), Erico La Bestia (V – only for this tour, he’s also vocalist of Dantesco, a band from Puerto Rico) and Wampa (D). They started with “Death Rider”, letting the audience astonished, followed by “Warning Of Danger”, “Ruby Eyes (Of The Serpent)”, “Battle Cry” and other songs that made this gig a big celebration for all the bangers there. The bad point is that the band deserved a bigger crowd and a better way to spread the announcements because Orkut is not worthy for a legend of Metal like Omen is. But, even with the low number public, for those who were there, including me, it will be a never forgetting night. To be able to see a legend’s gig and Kenny Powell stage diving on the fans is a thing that doesn’t happen everyday, after all.

Dia memorável para os headbangers do interior do estado, iriam receber e poder ver de perto um dos ícones do heavy metal americano, a banda Omen, que no passado foi considerada a resposta americana ao Iron Maiden, e de quebra ainda veriam a Strike Master ainda desconhecida pelo publico daqui, que se encontrava no bar próximo em meio aos fãs, e a já aclamada pelos metalheads paulistas, a banda Comando Nuclear.
A casa abriu pouco depois das 22:00 horas, Kenny Powell guitarrista da Omen, circulava de um lado para o outro como um incógnita, como se ninguém soubesse de quem se tratava.
Já passava das 23:30 e a banda Comando Nuclear entra em cena, apesar do atraso por terem se perdido em Campinas-SP, fazem um set curto mas destruidor, abrindo com “Unidos pelo Metal”, passando por “Princesa Infernal” dentre outras e fechando com chave de ouro com a musica “Resistir”, aquecendo o publico para mexicana Strike Master.
Strike Master entra cena e o power-trio mexicano, simplesmente arrebenta e leva o publico a loucura, muitos arriscavam-se nos famosos “stage-diving”, o que parece ter despertado a energia da banda, pois o show ficou mais intenso, KMU (guitarra / vocal) junto de Ricardo (baixo) não paravam um momento no palco, agitando muito, Chavez (baterista) parecia querer sair de trás da bateria e pular sobre o publico. A empolgação da banda parece ter se fundido junto ao publico, pois a cada musica o show ficava melhor, thrash metal na linha dos anos 80 da melhor qualidade, pena que no final a banda foi lesada na equalização do som, mas pela atitude, garra e energia da banda foi memorável.
Omen, uma banda que nunca imaginávamos ver tocando por aqui, ainda mais por todo país, apesar de o único membro original ser Kenny Powell (guitarra), não deixou a desejar e todos os integrantes mereceram seu posto junto da lenda, dentre eles Scott Clute (baixo), Erico La Bestia (vocalista apenas nesta turnê que é vocalista da banda porto-riquenha Dantesco) e Wampa (bateria). Entram com “Death Rider”, simplesmente deixando todos pasmos, ainda vieram “Warning Of Danger”, “Ruby Eyes (Of The Serpent)”, “Battle Cry” além de mais algumas que fizeram deste show uma grande celebração aos bangers presentes. O único fato negativo, é que a banda merecia um público maior, e uma maior consideração na hora da divulgação, pois divulgação de orkut não é algo digno de um grande representante do verdadeiro espírito do Metal, mas enfim, mesmo não tendo nem um terço da lotação da casa, para todos os presentes, inclusive este que vos escreve, será uma noite a ser lembrada sempre, afinal não é todo dia que temos o privilégio de assistirmos uma lenda dessas e com direito a um “stage diving” de Kenny Powell para celebrar o final do show junto aos fãs.
